Making the Mach 5, the half assed way...
I really wanted to make this kit, so I cut a lot of corners and it shows.
First off, I didnt wash or prime. I simply sanded and started to paint.
This was not a good idea, but it is a great example on why proper prep leads to a better paint joy/model.
Ok here is this looks fine, but there are parting lines all of the side pane. So I sanded them down with 400 grit then finished it off 600 grit.

Next, I wanted to add a special touch to the Mach 5. I wanted to go with blue for the bottom half.
So now I masked the bottom edge, so that the top part is white.
The kit came with glossy chrome wheels. So i stripped the metal coating and repainted it with aluminum.
Decals are on more on the way...

How to use alcad... and because im bored.
I was bored today, and didnt want to spend time on a model but I wanted to Air Brush.
So my victim was..

To use Alcad Chrome, you need to first apply a gloss black. Ive heard rumors that you can use gloss with but I have yet to confirm that.

So my victim was..
First I sanded down with 320 grit sandpaper. Then I used 400 grit sand paper to get rid of the heavy scratches, and finally I removed the 400 grit scratches by sanding with 600 grit sand paper.
As you can see I used low tack masking tape, so I would not airbrush the helmet.

I always over thin my paints because this will reduce the chances of me getting orange peel, and having the paint dry in mid air. The only real negative is that you have to apply 4 to 5 coats.
So to speed up that process, I would use a halogen lamp to heat up the paint to speed up the drying process. 10 seconds should do it. Ive also found that the protective wire cover is the ideal length, so as to not melt you parts.

Wow...Glossy..

I would use 15 psi, to spray on the Alcad.

Also I had purchased a black picture frame, but didnt like the bronze

Ive always liked black and silver.

Opps I did it again...
I got soo burnt out with the sinanju, that I had to stop. It looks fantastic, but it felt more like work than a hobby. So with that being said, painting is done, I just need to clear coat it and assemble it.
Unfortunately, I ran into these goodies...
